RoHS means “Restrictions of Hazardous Substances”, and is the topic of a directive from the European Union concerning many electronic products sold within EU member states since July 1st, 2006, which stipulates that they are not to contain hazardous substances such as lead, cadmium, and so on.
You may have noticed the RoHS acronym on the back of some of the PCBs we sell, such as the EtherMega:
We work hard to ensure that the components and soldering process for our products are lead-free, and that the PCBs are manufactured without lead or other harmful chemicals. This is indicated by the RoHS logo on the particular item.
Our products fall under the category of “monitoring and control” in the EU RoHS directive (2002/95/EC) and are therefore exempt from requiring full RoHS compliance. Thus we cannot supply documentation to prove our products are RoHS compliant.
